“Yes, that is correct, but it also depends on what we are talking about. Custom cars and homes are very expensive. But custom blinds don’t have to be lumped into that section of custom. There are products that are very expensive, it’s just the nature of that product. But for this post we are talking about one of the most popular products for most homeowners today, Faux Wood Blinds. These blinds can range from the off the shelf product from Home Depot to very high-end name brand products. You may be asking, what is the difference between the two sides of the price range? Well, we will cover that.

When we talk windows and custom there is always the statement of well “my house has standard windows in it”. Sorry but there is no such thing as a standard window these days. Every window is a different size and thus needs a Custom blind. In doing so the term Custom has almost come to mean standard.

Well let’s first look at the kind of product Home Depot offers and why we want to point out the difference between low-end custom, and high-end custom blind options.

To the left is a picture of a Lovulor Custom Blind from Home Depot. Take some time and look at it. What do you see?

1. Notice the large stack of extra blind at the bottom of the window? That does not look custom to me.

2. Notice the pull strings on the right. Not only are they a big mess but they do not have any sort of child safety devices built into them.

This is the best example of what a low end of the shelf custom blind will look like in your home. It is able to carry the name “custom” since the store can cut down the width of the blind to the desired “custom” size. But they can do nothing about the length of the blind.
This is part one of our look at custom blinds. We will post part two soon with pictures of what TRUE custom blinds should look like in your home.
